Karlee, a dog rescuer, was alerted to a situation involving a litter of puppies living under a wood pile at a construction site that was being demolished by some friends.
Locals had tried pulling the pups out, but they were very scared. So Karlee set out to assist, leaving some food and water to entice them out.
The puppies finally started coming out, and they were able to catch every last one of them! But they’d have to return in a few days to try for their mother.
And when they spotted her, she was even more skittish than her pups. However, a member of the community who feeds her had an idea to try to capture the dog; he claimed that if he took the puppies, the mama would follow.
“So the man loaded up the pups in his truck and started the 10 minute drive to Karlee’s house. And what do you know, mama was right there with me the whole time!”
They’d have to stop frequently along the way to give her water breaks, but it all worked out in the end.
Finally at home, it’d take about a week for the mother to get comfortable enough to actually go in the house. But when she did, she was relieved to be able to spend time with her children!
This just goes to show the will of a mother to go the distance to do whatever necessary for her offspring.
